Well, I've been (mildly) hard at work on the next project. This one is a collaboration between me and a friend. We concieved the idea together months ago, and he wrote up the script. We recorded the dialogue and this promises to be far more heavy on lip synching than anything I've done before. Up until the recording session, I was unsure about how the project would turn out, however I am now completely sure that my friend and I have a first class ticket to hell... It should be a blast. Hopefully production time will be shorter than my last project, which only took like 3 times longer than I thought it would take to finish.
Anyway, it promises to be pretty awesome when it's finished. Keep an eye out for it in the next few months.

Alright, well I took Bitter Bill into work to get some opinions from the pros, and what I ended up with is some good advice. This means that the short will be delayed yet again while I do some fixes, but quality is the key here. Unless I have a really busy week, I should be able to get this stuff done moderately quickly, so hopefully Bill will be out in the next couple of weeks. I still need music, but not until I'm done animating, which will hopefully be done in a week, maybe a week and a half.

I took it to my internship in order to get some professional advice, and they gave me some really excellent ideas on how to improve it. I'm going to be working to edit it down a bit and improve some of the animation, and will hopefully get it out in the next couple of weeks. It will be done soon. Seriously.

I've only got a few more seconds of animation to finish up, and I'm hoping to have all the animation done by tuesday. After that, all that remains are a few edits and coming up with some music. I can't wait to start on a new project after working on this one for many more months than I originally planned, not that I mean to imply that I haven't enjoyed working on it. I hope people enjoy it nearly as much as I have enjoyed creating it, but I'm ready to move on to a new project at this point.
I plan on taking it into work to see if I can't get any professional feedback, finishing any edits necessary, adding some music and finally submitting it, hopefully by this time next week.
Peace out.

I'm making so much progress that I've begun to think about my next project. I'm not quite sure what I want to start on, there are a couple of ideas I've been toying with. I have one script written up that's generally well developed, although it'll probably go through a rewrite before I start on it. The other thing I'm considering starting is a series of shorts that I've been concieving for quite awhile. I'd like to get a start on them, but I haven't written a script yet and the characters aren't fully developed. The big deciding factor will be the actors that I can get. One actor I'd like to use I won't be seeing for a few months, although I may be able to get him to do it over the internet. Another I don't even know if she's in town or not.
Anyway, this is mostly just a stream of thought following my elation that Bitter Bill may finally be done soon. After working on it since either December or January, I'll be glad to just be done with it. It's been fun, but it's been long, tiring and taking far longer than I would have thought.
Anyway, peace all.

The good news is that I've been working my ass off on a portfolio website for my web design class which should be done in the next few days. I've been putting in far more work than I would consider to be anywhere near reasonable, but it'll be worth it in the end, and I'll be able to go back to work on Bill once it's done. I wish I didn't have to keep pushing the work I really want to do back, but it's tough trying to juggle work for classes and work for personal reasons simultaneously. Oh well, I'll be back on track soon and hopefully able to finish this project and move on to even bigger and better things.
0 comments | Log in to comment! | Share this!Well, it's been about a month since I posted any information, so I figured I'd update this. I've been working my ass off on Bitter Bill, but decided to go back and fix some parts of it that looked far too tweened and artificial. I'm still not completely satisfied with these parts, but they're getting better. Unfortunately, due to loads of work recently, I really haven't been able to get nearly as much of Bitter Bill done as I would have liked. I could have done it quickly and released it by now, but I'd much rather take my damn time and put out a higher quality project. Allow me to clarify right now, this is my most ambitious project to date (not like that's saying much), and I think it's turning out great. I originally wanted it done months ago, and recently wanted it done last month, but it just hasn't happened. It's not through lack of effort though, just my anal retentive devotion to producting something of quality. This semester's ending soon and I should have loads of time once it is done, so I'm hoping that at the latest, I will have Bitter Bill done in the next 5-6 weeks. Given that originally I wanted this done sometime in February, I don't know how realistic an estimate this is, but just know if you read this that I'm working my ass off to give you a couple of minutes of laughter. So far production time has been somewhere in the area of 3 months, I'm certain that a little extra time won't hurt.

The problem is that this last bit will probably be the most complicated part to animate, so things are going to take awhile. I was originally hoping to be done with this short partway through this month, but I got more ambitious and now I'm just hoping to have it done sometime in March. I've had a number of unavoidable delays along the way, but I just keep rolling on. Admittedly my pace has been slowed down recently, but I've been working my ass off and I hope that I can get this one done soon enough that I can start on my next piece (which has been started on a very basic level) and the piece after that (which is mostly in the conceptual stage at this point). Peace all.
1 comment | Log in to comment! | Share this!Bitter Bill is now officially 99.5 seconds, and something like halfway done! Yay! Also, work on the next short has been started... slowly... I have a script, although I haven't seen it yet and the basic symbols and all that have begun to be produced. Hooray!
